What's New in SAGE 1.6
- Forms - A new forms system was added that allows users to enter and manage information using forms. The system allows “power” users to create different form templates that define the form as well as how the form maps to/from SAGE objects. Forms can be used to insert new or updated information into SAGE as well as review existing data from SAGE. Forms can be attached to SAGE objects or managed independently in their own table.
- Alerting - A new Alert server was added that allows users to define conditions and get alerts through a variety of channels when events of interest occur. Options for receiving alerts include client application notifications, email, instant messaging, serial or network based streams, etc.
- StreamImportLayer - The new StreamImportLayer is similar to the FileImportLayer except that it reads data from a network (TCP or UDP) or serial data stream.
- Object Life Cycle Management - All SAGE objects now have the option of including tracking history such as author, reviewers, required reviewers, etc. Users can monitor the status of an object from generation through approval.
- User Defined Tables - The Collaboration server was extended to allow the user supply XML schemas to create custom tables. These tables provide functionality similar to all of the other SAGE tables including insert, update, delete, query, subscription, transactions, compartments, etc.
- DataMaps - Datamaps allow the user to more effectively control how objects are visualized on a map. Attributes that have a range of values may be separated into value range maps and visualized with variety of mapping options including color, size, and style.
- Property Editor - A new XML based property editor allows the user to view/edit any field in an XML object. All SAGE objects are manipulated in XML. By using the new XML based property editor any field in any of the SAGE objects as well as any custom XML added by the user will be viewable/editable in the corresponding review screen.
- Performance - Performance over limited bandwidth internet connections has been improved by use of excluded regions and selective elements in all queries/subscriptions.
- Silverlight Web Client - A new web client using Microsoft’s Silverlight technology. This client will be developed as a set of custom Silverlight Controls that can be reused to create a wide variety of client applications.
