Warrior's Edge
Warrior’s Edge was a component of the Horizontal Fusion Program in which the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) demonstrated the benefits of providing squad/platoon level situational data fusion at Ft. Benning in 2003 & 2004. In a combat situation the War Fighter was connected via an ad hoc network to fellow war fighters, unattended sensors, and robotic platforms to help unburden the communication and decision-making load and empower them with additional real-time situational awareness information previously unavailable at that level.
ElanTech’s role in the Warrior’s Edge program was to build a prototype robotic Multifunction Utility/Logistics Equipment (MULE) Vehicle to act as the local fusion station and mobile logistics carrier in the Warrior’s Edge vision. ElanTech developed the adapters and fusion algorithms to integrate and process the wide variety of sensors used during the demonstration. These fusion algorithms and adapters became the motivation for the development of the SAGE suite of services.
